Colors: Week 2

COLORS week continues! We had so much COLOR fun this week that we'll definitely have to do another COLOR week soon, but right now we are on COLOR-overload!!!

Our Muffin Tin Monday didn't have a theme this week so we decided to just do a little rainbow of all our COLORS...raisins in a RED box, ORANGE cantelope, YELLOW pineapple, GREEN pickles, rice-crispie treat in a BLUE wrapper and PURPLE dried blueberries. Super yummy!
Next we did a little COLOR matching with our Mickey paint sample game. But it was way too easy for Em to just match them up, so we decided to play memory instead. This game is still a little challenging for her, but she really gets excited when she actually finds a match!

I thought this COLOR paperclip activity might be too hard (like the clothespin one) but she surprised me again. First she matched them up to the card and then slid them right on. Great job, little lady! (Tip for this one: I used these self sealing pouches to make "laminated" cards really easily. They make bag tags like these too which we use for SO many things. And of course you can find them at Target :o))

Our very favorite activity this week was our maiden voyage to Sprots for a little COLOR-matching shopping! Mommy had heard so many good things about their produce and prices and her friends were right! That place is awesome. Em brought her COLOR book along and our goal was to find one item for every COLOR in her book. It was super cute to watch her walk around and search out her groceries :o). Here she is with her ORANGE oranges, YELLOW bananas and all the COLORS in the trail mix. We also found RED apples, GREEN lettuce, BLUE chips, BROWN almonds and PURPLE dried blueberries. The only PINK and BLACK we could find were candy so we just looked at them but didn't buy them for home.

Daddy helped with our next activity and they had a blast...lick and stick rainbow with COLORED marshmallows! I'm pretty sure they did more "lick and eat" than "lick and stick" but they sure did have fun. In fact, I might have had to tell daddy that playing "chubby bunny" with a two-year-old is definitely a choking hazard :o).

We found this COLOR mixing milk activity during the middle of the week and knew we had to add it to our list. SO exciting. Since we are still reading Mouse Paint a lot this week, Em is really into color mixing. Her favorite part was when we mixed all the COLORS together and turned the milk BROWN...and she was convinced it was chocolate milk!

We read TONS of good books about COLOR this week. BROWN bear, BROWN bear, Mouse Paint, Hello RED Fox, COLORS, The Mixed-up Chamelion, PINKalicious and PURPLicious!

Here's one super messy, really fun COLOR activity...bath paints! She ended up painting herself more than the walls, but can't you just see the joy on her face!?! She picked the COLORS we used...can you tell she likes BLUE?

Oh, and we got a new game too...Candyland! We didn't really play by the rules, but we did match up the COLORS on the card with spots on the gameboard. (Sorry we forgot pics of this!)

But the "icing on the cake" for COLOR week was this amazing rainbow-COLORED cake!!! We mixed and poured and got really messing creating this masterpiece and it got rave reviews from Em and Daddy!!! (***Beware: the language on the cake link is just as colorful as the cake itself.)

Colors: Week 1

Last week we learned all about COLORS!!! And we had a ton of fun doing it! In fact, we had so much fun and so many activities to try that we are going to do even more COLORS this week...stay tuned.

First, we made a Color book. Em had SO much fun with this one. I cut out things of different colors beforehand, but she picked the ones she wanted to use and did a great job.

Our Muffin Tin Monday called for all things Orange. We had carrots with ranch, sweet potato fries, goldfish, cantelope, mandarian oranges and cheese. Em's gave a thumbs up to the cantelope, carrots and oranges.

We also Painted toast one day for a snack. Mommy even got a kick out of this one! Who knew?

We had fun playing the Egg carton game and I found those little balls all over the house!!!

This little Color Jump activity helped us work on running and jumping as well as our colors. I would just tell her to run and jump on the color and she loved it. I was even able to give her 2-step directions and she could find both colors. (Orange continues to mix us up a bit).

We made a "Baa Baa Black Sheep" puppet and gave Hayden a pretty good little puppet show :o). Note to self...painting cotton balls doesn't really work. Ha!

One of my favorites...we read the book Mouse paint a ton this week. This is a great book that shows how to mix colors to create new ones (I used to use it a lot in therapy with the little guys). Em LOVED it...literally carried it around all week. When we finished reading the book, we did just like the mice and mixed colors to make new ones with our Color squishers. Super fun. But the part Em loved most was using her Red Lightning McQueen car to make a painting with our new colors. It turned out great and she was super proud!

I was afraid that using the clothepins for her Color wheel would be too difficult, but daddy always knows just how to help us out. He taught her how one morning before work and she had it down in no time. And she learned a new color too...Gray!

This had to be Emerson's favorite activity...making a Fruit loop necklace! And somehow she tricked me into letting her eat one, put one on the necklace, eat one, put one on the necklace, etc. I think she made out pretty well :o)

And don't forget the Blue! Check out those precious "baby blues" :o)

P Week!

P is for Purple, Pasta, Puzzles, Pigs, Portrait, Play doh, Pretending, Park, Pam, Picnic and Pancakes....a few of the things we learned about last week.
(We were not Punctual about this Post though...it all happened last week)

Muffin Tin Monday
...we didn't actually go with the theme last week, but we did manage to Pick all P things...peaches, pickles, pink milk, pasta, pretzels, pudding!

We're SO Proud of Hayden's new little trick :o).

We made a Pasta P and a Pink and Purple Polkadot P (really more like squiggles)!

We made Pink Playdoh Pigs on my Precious Placemat from Emma.

Hayden is giving up her Pacifier...she Prefers her fingers (just like big sister).

Did you know that last Tuesday was National Pancake Day!?! All day, we Pretended to mix the batter, flip our Pancakes and Plate them up :o). And that night, we went to IHOP for FREE Pancakes with Kennedy's family! It was Perfect!

We found tons of P videos on YouTube last week...thanks to Seasame Street:

And we tried some new P foods. (P.S. I DON'T like Paprika!)

We made Piggie waffles for breakfast...yum!

Wasn't the weather Perfect last week!?! We certainly took advantage by spending tons of time Picnicing and Playing at the Park.

This one was a family Project so daddy could help...was made life-size Portraits of two Pink girlies :o) We just forgot to take a Picture of Em's.

On Thursday, Mommy and Gigi's friend, Pam, brought us a yummy lunch and Presents...a beautifully handmade quilt for Hayden (like the one she made Em as a baby) and a fun new hooded towel for Emerson. Em thought it was funny she had a P name...Perfect for our P week. (Just a bummer that mommy forgot to take a Picture with her).

We did TONS of Puzzles last week! Usually in our Pajamas :o)

Our little bit has become a Perfect NaPPer...two two-hour naps a day!

And we read LOTS of new books...some P books and some not. We were getting ready for our fun outing with Quinn and other new friends to watch a Play...If you Give a Pig a Pancake!!!

Here we are eating some Pig Pancakes to Prepare for our day!

Last but not least...did we mention how Precious baby sister is!?!
