I Spy with my little eye...

...lots of fun things!!! Last week, we took a break from doing the 'letter of the week' and did all things "I spy"!

Our week was inspired by those wonderful "I spy" books that have been around forever. We've collected a few and Em loves looking at all the pictures. She's getting pretty good at "spying" the things I describe to her, but she's not ready to give clues herself...just points to what she is spying and says, "there it is, mommy!" Ha!

Since we were out of town on Monday, we just did our Muffin Tin on Tuesday instead :o). There was no theme for the week, so we just decided to hide a little something in each tin to "spy". Emmy picked mini-marshmallows to hide in the cups and got silly excited each time she found one :o).

We made "I spy" glasses and took turns "spying" all over the house...we've even "spied" a baby...who would have thought!?! She was so excited that I thought it would be fun to take them in the car and "spy" things driving down the road, but by the time we got home, our little lady had dismantled our poor "spy" glasses. Bummer!

A repeat from last week, we did much better on our "I spy" letter recognition game this time. We tried to do this last week with colored paper, but she could already she the "hidden message" before she even painted anything. So this week, I used white paper and she really could "spy" a secret message as it appeared with the paint!

We found lots of fun "I spy" games on the computer this week too:

• "I spy" BINGO - this one was kind of hard for Emmy b/c it was timed...maybe next year.
• "I spy" Shapes - find all the shapes!
• Make an "I spy" picture - this is her very own creation...

This was my favorite...our own "I spy" bottle. We gathered up lots of tiny things around the house, took pictures of them, put them in an empty water bottle with rice and attached the sheet of pictures so she'd know what she was "spying". Super fun! We practiced saying, "I spy with my little eye, a ___". She loved it :o). And guess what was her favorite item to "spy"!?! A mini marshmallow, of course.

Played LOTS of rounds of the original "I spy" game and wrote down what we "spied" on our Google-eye page :o).

And we ended the week/weekend starting to create our very own "I spy" book....still not quite done, but it's coming along. Em picked out several items from different rooms (kitchen, bathroom, playroom, her room) and we created our own I spy layout or each room. We took some pictures, and plan to print them out and make our own little book. So fun! Here's our "I spy kitchen" page.

Just realizing I did a bad job of capturing our week in pictures, but we sure did have fun "I spying" all week!

V is for Valentine!

LoVe is in the air!!! We had a Very loVey week celebrating Valentines Day! Of course, we reVVed up the week with Muffin Tin Monday with a red/pink theme…we eVen tried some new Vegetables!

(red bell peppers - yogurt - watermelon - strawberry applesauce - strawberries - tomatoes)

And sported some Very silly Valentine gear (thanks Karo!)

We made Very big hugs for our grandparents and mailed them off just in time for their Valentine Voyage.

We sorted conVersation hearts by color…and deVoured a bunch after we were done :o).


Next, we learned a new Bible Verse…

John 15:17 - These things I command you, that you love one another.

Emmy was Victorious over daddy in their Valentine Heart game (eVen if he had to help a bit).


HaVing friends over is so Very fun…Gabby and her mommy came oVer to make Vibrant pink cupcakes one day!


Painting with sponges is Very messy :o).


We ate such aVast amount of yummy treats this week, we probably haVe sugar running through our Veins :o)

Valentine Treat Pops!

Hayden Kate and Emerson receiVed tons of loVey outfits (thanks Aunt Sarah) and we think they looked grooVy. Hayden Kate “loVes her daddy”, “her heart belongs to mommy”, and she’s “daddy’s sweetheart”. Plus she sent this Very cute tray that Em ate all her meals on :o).

Violet starts with V so we made our great-grandparents Valentine cards with Violet and red handprint hearts…we loVe you guys :o).


And after a Vote, we decided that our Very faVorite V-day activity was the special party hosted by Rachel and aVery. Their mommies proVided a Very fun day with super cute crafts and treats and fun with our friends.

oVerall, our V week was Very Victoriously Valentine-y! But we were so busy that we ran out of time to do all the fun actiVities mommy had planned...there's always next year! And you still haVen't eVen seen how we celebrated with daddy yet...

Y Week!

Y is for...Yellow, Yams, Yogurt, Yell, Yay, Yarn, Yolk...and these are just some of the Y things we learned about this week!

Y week was inspired by our Yellow Monday Muffin Tin.

We made a Y collage to get our week going (but by the time mommy took a pic, I had taken all the fun Yellow things off :o)).

Made egg Yolk paintings.

Created a Yellow schoolbus.

We went on a Yellow hunt.

Made "Book Cooks" Yummy Yams.

And a few we forgot to take pictures of...threaded frogs with Yarn, ate Yogurt, Yelled Yay so loud (only when Hayden was awake) and squished Yellow play-doh.
